Have a Cigar: El Septimo Sacred Arts Botticelli

Name: El Septimo Sacred Arts Botticelli

Country: Costa Rica

Size: (7 1/2 inches x 58)

Strength: Medium

The El Septimo Botticelli is a beautifully constructed medium-strength cigar that is easy to fall in love with. I paired the first half with a glass of Teeling whiskey and the second half with a cappuccino. Every draw tasted like celebration. It was nothing short of excellence.

A wonderful place.

A place where philosophy is paired
with fat cigars,
full-bodied, aromatic cigars
that produce a lot of smoke,
creamy, thick, slithering smoke.

Poetry, here, is not read;
it is drunk from tumblers and highballs.
And time is measured by drams and draws
and vitolas.

Sometimes, I come here to forget
work-related stress.
Other times, I come here for a game of chess.
But most of the times, I’m here simply
for the slow-burning cigars and fireside chats.

To sink in these leather armchairs
is to enter a world of —
How can I put it?
I’ll have to think about it.
But later.
Now, it’s time to enter the humidor
again
and pick a cigar that will take me there
again.

Abdelli Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Lebanese Wines: Abdelli Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Description

Name: Abdelli Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Type: Red Wine
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon
Year: 2017
Country: Lebanon
Region: Batroun, North Lebanon

Experience

Overall, it is an okay wine, but not one that is worth philosophizing about. It’s a house wine that is pretty straightforward. Nice color. A little on the acidic side with some strawberry notes and freshly-picked black fruits. It goes well with Lebanese mezza and medium-bodied Nicaraguan cigars.

Chris Khatschadourian smoking the La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro Bombero

Have a Cigar: La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro Bombero

Name: La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro Bombero

Country: Nicaragua

Shape: Parejo

Size: (6 inches x 54)

Strength: Medium

Somewhere far in the mountains, I smoked Drew Estate’s La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro.

The size I smoked was the Bombero, which is 6 inches long and has a 54 ring gauge. I paired it first with a Cabernet Sauvignon and then with Lebanese arak. It tasted better with the arak. I believe it would have paired well with blended 12-year-old whiskies, too.

The Bombero burned evenly but relatively fast. So, I enjoyed it until there was nothing left of it.

Medium-strength and medium-bodied, it’s a good stick to light up while feasting on Lebanese mezze.
