Experience

Overall, it is an okay wine, but not one that is worth philosophizing about. It’s a house wine that is pretty straightforward. Nice color. A little on the acidic side with some strawberry notes and freshly-picked black fruits. It goes well with Lebanese mezza and medium-bodied Nicaraguan cigars.

Have a Cigar: La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro Bombero

Name: La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro Bombero

Country: Nicaragua

Shape: Parejo

Size: (6 inches x 54)

Strength: Medium

Somewhere far in the mountains, I smoked Drew Estate’s La Vieja Habana Brazilian Maduro.

The size I smoked was the Bombero, which is 6 inches long and has a 54 ring gauge. I paired it first with a Cabernet Sauvignon and then with Lebanese arak. It tasted better with the arak. I believe it would have paired well with blended 12-year-old whiskies, too.

The Bombero burned evenly but relatively fast. So, I enjoyed it until there was nothing left of it.

Medium-strength and medium-bodied, it’s a good stick to light up while feasting on Lebanese mezze.
