Smoking an Ashton Symmetry cigar while reading Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea

Have a Cigar: Ashton Symmetry Robusto

Strength: Medium to Full

It was a sunny November morning, and I didn’t want to waste it.
The sea was a dark blue satin bedsheet; the cargo ships stretched and slept on it like newborn babies.
The clouds in the turquoise sky were few, white, and friendly — like floating daydreams.
The fresh air glided into my lungs and filled me with tranquility.
I opened my humidor to choose the cigar of the day.
The robusto vitola seemed right for the occasion.
I paired the cigar with homemade cappuccino and Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea.
It was a morning well spent.

Only I have no luck any more. But who knows? Maybe today. Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.

From Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea

Have a Cigar: Avo Classic No. 6 Gordo

Name: Avo Classic No. 6 Gordo

Country: Dominican Republic

Shape: Parejo

Size: Gordo (6 inches x 60)

Strength: Medium

This Avo cigar is pretty smooth. I like it. I’m smoking it on the terrace late in the evening.

It’s medium-bodied and easy to smoke. But it doesn’t lack complexity. It’s flavorful with hints of milky chocolate, cedar, and toffee. Some buttery and vegetal notes can also be detected. It has a great draw and its smoke is thick and creamy.

Good stuff.

Have a Cigar: Casa Turrent 1880

Name: Casa Turrent 1880

Country: Mexico

Shape: Parejo

Size: (6 1/2 inches x 54)

Strength: Medium

Some cigars are just better than others.

The Casa Turrent 1880 is a superb cigar with chocolaty and earthy notes. It kept me company for a couple of hours on Saturday night. I paired it with blended Scotch whisky, and, I must add, I had quite a few drinks…

The smell of the cigar reminded me of campfire mixed with petrichor. It reminded me of when I was a boy scout. I believe I was smiling all the time.

It was a refreshing night. We were at an outdoor bar. The sea was beside us reflecting the moonlight. And a cool breeze caressed us every now and then. It felt like summer was finally coming to an end. But there was nothing to be sad about.

The music was loud, and my heart danced with the beat.
