Smoking an Oliva Serie V Figurado at Beit al Qamar in Chouf, Lebanon.

Have a Cigar: Oliva Serie V Special Figurado

Name: Oliva Serie V Special Figurado

Country: Nicaragua

Shape: Figurado

Size: (6 inches x 60)

Strength: Medium to Full

Oliva Serie V cigars never fail me.

Though the Double Toro is my go-to vitola, I’m not afraid to try a new vitola occasionally. So, this time, I tried the Special Figurado, which is also 6 inches and has a ring gauge of 60.

The only difference between the Double Toro and the Special Figurado is that the latter has a firmer draw, which means a little less smoke than usual and a little more work. Other than that, the experience I got was very similar to what I’m used to when I’m smoking Oliva Serie V cigars.

Great cigar. Great burn. Great smoke.

Smoking a Camacho Connecticut in Lebanon

Have a Cigar: Camacho Connecticut Robusto

Name: Camacho Connecticut Robusto

Country: Honduras

Shape: Parejo

Size: Robusto (5 inches x 50)

Strength: Mild

Notes: Light notes of cedar, cayenne, cinnamon, earth, chestnut

Not my favorite Camacho but definitely a good treat.

The Camacho Connecticut Robusto is a mild cigar made to be smoked casually or while doing chores.

It is not a cigar I’d take to the bar or restaurant with me, and it’s definitely not a cigar I’d light up at a wedding or a funeral. I’d smoke it on the beach, or when I’m driving, or when I’m starting the grill… That’s the type of cigar the Camacho Connecticut is.

Note: Drinks like strong espressos or stout beers may eclipse the light flavors of this cigar, so water, pilsner, or green tea are the best drinks that go with it.

Smoking a Plasencia Cosecha 146 San Luis cigar at Loris Gourmet

I used to wait for a good occasion
to light a cigar.
When I think about it now,
I shake my head and smile.

Why do I need to wait
for someone to get married
for me to light up a stick?
Why does it have to be an engagement,
or a bachelor, or a baptism,
or a birthday party
or anything?

These days, I don’t care.
I just want to feel good.
I burn six to seven a week.
I smoke everywhere,
everywhere I can.

I’d light one up at a funeral, too,
if I had the chance.
I don’t mind.
It’s not only on happy occasions that a man
needs a smoke.
