Lighting up a Casa Turrent 1880 Oscuro cigar on a Friday night. Paired with Aerstone Sea Cask whisky.

Have a Cigar: Casa Turrent 1880 Oscuro Double Robusto

Name: Casa Turrent 1880 Oscuro Double Robusto

Country: Mexico

Shape: Parejo

Size: (6 1/2 inches x 55)

Strength: Medium to Full

To date, my favorite Casa Turrent cigar is the Serie 1901 Robusto, but a lot of other Casa Turrent cigars are great, too. The 1880 Oscuro Double Robusto is one example. It is a good-looking cigar rich with notes of dark chocolate, leather, white pepper, ginger, and roasted cashew nuts. Paired with a good drink, a great experience is guaranteed.

Smoking a Flor de Copan Special Edition at Odom Retreat

Have a Cigar: Flor de Copan Special Edition Toro

Name: Flor de Copan Special Edition Toro

Country: Honduras

Shape: Parejo

Size: (6 inches x 54)

Strength: Mild to Medium

This cigar was a little milder than what I expected it to be. But it wasn’t as mild as the Classic Flor de Copan.

Not all good cigars have to be full-bodied…

I paired it with vodka and smoked it slowly after dinner. Nuances of wood and cocoa could be detected. It had a firm draw, and it burned evenly.

I enjoyed it for an hour or so until it was time to leave the restaurant and head to our five-star tent in the snow. My wife and I were spending the night at Odom Retreat, and, naturally, I wanted to spend more time in the tent than in the restaurant.

Smoking an Ashton VSG Pegasus

Have a Cigar: Ashton VSG Pegasus

Shape: Parejo

Strength: Medium to Full

The morning came.
The hangover came with it
again
like a great song that has become annoying
because it was forgotten on repeat.

Why do I constantly
“drain the dregs of pleasure’s bowl”
when I’m aware that regret
will crow like a rooster at dawn?

Maybe because
the cigars that I smoke
and the whiskies that I drink
intensify my pleasure
and help me summarize
the events of the world
and the sweet and salty moments
of life
in a way that nothing else can.

And maybe not.

But the question must be asked aloud.
Is a hangover a good price to pay?
I think it is
if you plan on getting wasted
occasionally.
