And I’m afraid of that — of losing myself —

Some people live their lives without noticing that they are not there anymore, that they are no longer themselves. They live on autopilot mode and (unconsciously) give up thinking altogether. No more introspection… no more contemplation… no more aspiration… They live without living, without thinking, without being.

And I’m afraid of that
because I only get to live once,
and I don’t want to lose myself.

And that’s one of the reasons I smoke cigars.
Cigars make me think.

I’ve been smoking more and more DBL cigars, and I’m enjoying them a lot. It’s a good brand.

This time I tried the Derrame. Like the other DBL cigars that I’ve smoked, this one was also well-constructed. It burned well, and it produced a lot of smoke.

But if I have to choose one, from the DBL cigars I tried so far, I’d go with the Extra Viejo. (The ones I tried so far are: the 35th Anniversary, the 2nd Generation, the Extra Viejo, and the Derrame III.)

A beautiful smoke on a beautiful night. I smoked one celebrating my birthday with friends.

Branding: Superb. I love art and El Septimo’s Sacred Arts collection is one of my favorites.

Construction: Great.

Pre-light: It smelled a little like French toast.

Cut: Straight cut, as almost always.

Burn: Even burn. Only had to fix it once.

Duration: 120 minutes.

Draw: Excellent.

Smoke: Good.

Ash: Good.

Flavor: Notes of chocolate, leather, wood, dried figs, and prune.
