Misak Medsarents translations from Armenian to English

“Sleep” by Misak Metsarents

Misak Metsarents (1886-1908) was a Western Armenian neo-romantic poet. This is my translation of “Sleep” from Armenian to English. It was written sometime between 1901 and 1903.

Sleep

A cold, quivering Fall
is panting in my soul.
The night falls. The book of life
cries page after page.

Sickly shivers
and feeble murmurs
fade in, fade out
in a feverish requiem.

And — poor snowbound lyre! —
my brave heart goes silent,
and even the saddle horse leaves.
Only the quivering comes to bring

suffering and pain.
My longed for flowers aren’t here.
The fragrance and enthusiasm aren’t here…

I’d call the Sobremesa Torpedo Tiempo an okay cigar. It’s not excellent; at the same time, there’s nothing disappointing about it. Briefly put, I got what I paid for.

The cigar has a nice maduro color, and it smells nice. It burns evenly, somewhat gently. I could smell and taste baked chocolate cake topped with a little cinnamon, some wood dipped in vanilla, and floral afternotes.

Overall, okay.

Bought a couple of these for a night out with my cousin. The Mad MoFo is a good cigar to pair with all sorts of beers, especially stouts and porters. It’s a cigar big enough to keep you company while you nurse a few pints and good enough for you to enjoy the brief silences and the small breaks between beers.
